Rhinelander High School will be competing in the 33rd annual Wisconsin High School Mock Trial Tournament in Madison, March 12-13. RHS has won the state title 17 times, including five of the last 10 years.

Twelve Regional champions and four "wild card" teams will be participating in the tournament this year. The other regional champions are Superior, Bay Port, Marshfield, Oshkosh West, LaCrosse Logan, Middleton, Oregon, Shorewood, Kettle Moraine, Lodi and Franklin. The wildcard teams are Wausau West, Madison West, Dodgeland and Appleton West.

Four rounds of semifinal competition will be held at the Dane County Courthouse on March 12. The rounds are power-paired, pitting winners and against winners, until ultimately the top two teams in the tournament are determined. The finalists will be announced at a Mock Trial Banquet on Sunday evening and they will compete for the state title in the Supreme Court Hearing Room on March 12.

Six of the seven members of this year's RHS team are returning from last year's team, which placed third in the state tournament. They are seniors Emily Ditzler, Anna Catlin, and Jarod Hoha, and juniors Albiona Sabani, Ellie Rickman and Sydney Schallock. New to the team this year is junior Max Holperin.

The faculty adviser is Kathy Vick-Martini and the attorney coaches are Amy Ferguson and Judge Michael Bloom.
