During the week children got to dress up as their favorite Seuss character, wear their favorite socks, wear their wackiest outfit, read to their stuffed animal, and wear pajamas. In class they also got to decorate their doors in a Seuss theme.
"We always try to do something fun each day, usually it would have something to do with bringing something or wearing something just to be fun and celebrate how fun Dr. Seuss was," said Tina Vannatter, multi-age teacher for first and second grade.
The school has been doing Seuss Week and Read Across America for several years, and Vannatter said the children adore it.
The students also liked the "Stop, Drop and Read" activity. Whenever Dr. Seuss music played over the speakers and the children would drop whatever they were doing, grab their toy and read the book they have been carrying around all day.
Students also loved seeing the teachers dressed up too.
"They just love to know that you're a human being too," Vannatter said.
Her students were in stitches over her choice of wacky attire.
"Wacky Wednesday I came with my hair on the outside of a hat that was inside a cone hat so it looked like my hair defied gravity and they were completely cracking up and it was great fun," she said.
Her students enjoyed the fun-filled week.
"We got to do all these fun stuff and we got to celebrate his birthday," said Madison Volkening, a second-grader.
"I like 'Hooray for Huffenduffer Day,'" First-grader Kandis Roberts said, echoing a popular title among the students.
Roberts said she liked pajama day and Wacky Wednesday the most, and she appreciated Seuss' writing.
"He's a good author," Roberts said.
Christopher Larson, a first-grader, liked the "Cat in the Hat" movie.
"The Cat threw the fish right in the toilet and he said 'Hey, they buried my brother in here,'" Larson said enthusiastically.
He liked wearing his pajamas to school.
Mya Renn, a first-grader, also shared in the enjoyment of wearing comfy pajamas to school.
She said her favorite Seuss book is "A Fish Out of Water."
During the week students completed a reading log, with the student with the most logged hours got a special seat up front during Friday's assembly. They also got to participate in an interactive read-along.
