Singles by Asher Johnson and David Schramke started the rally. Liam Stevens and Nate Cogar also recorded hits in the five-run frame.
The rally made a winner out of Stevens on the hill. He went the distance for the Grays, allowing four runs on seven hits with five strikeouts.
The Grays scored two in the top of the first, but Laser Pros rallied with two runs each in the fourth and fifth innings to take the lead. Martin Hoger and Eric Grulke had two hits each for Laser Pros. Kamerin Resch, Logan Oestreich and Eddie Bauer had the remainder of the team's seven base knocks.
Grulke went 5 1/3 innings in a no-decision for Laser Pros, allowing four runs on six hits with six strikeouts. Josh Randolph took the loss in relief, pitching 1 2/3 innings. He allowed three runs on a hit and struck out four.
Both teams had seven hits in the contest. Nate Cogar led Rhinelander Gray with a 2-for-2 day at the plate. Schramke, Johnson, Danny Zuiker, Stevens and Jake Wilmot had the other hits.
Rhinelander Gray currently sits at 1-0 in the league standings while Laser Pros is 1-2. Laser Pros defeated Eagle River 13-1 Monday while Rhinelander Gray traveled to Merrill Blue Tuesday. Information on those games was not received prior to deadline. Laser Pros is home to Crandon Thursday while Rhinelander Gray hosts Lakeland Friday.
Prep League
Rhinelander's two Prep League teams are underway in their NWBRL seasons. Rhinelander White is currently 3-1 while Rhinelander Black sits at 1-2.
The White team outslugged the Black 20-15 when the two teams got together on Memorial Day. Rhinelander White also has an 13-8 win over Eagle River and a 9-3 loss to Lakeland Silver.
Rhinelander White defeated Merrill Blue 11-7 Monday and was scheduled to play at Crandon Tuesday. That score was not reported prior to deadline.
Rhinelander Black fell to Eagle River 17-16 in the season opener and defeated Tomahawk 16-5 on June 2. They traveled to Merrill Gray on Wednesday and will host Eagle River Friday.
