The winning ticket holder for that prize was Ester Milender.
Volunteers from the group were present throughout the evening to answer questions about Let's Go Fishing and to talk with guests about what the group does. Proceeds from the event will go toward paying expenses such as payments on the group's 32-foot pontoon boat. The Northwoods Chapter of Let's Go Fishing takes sight-seeing rides and fishing trips with groups of seniors, veterans, and disabled people from all around the area.
"I feel our boat is underused," chapter president Mark Schroeder said. "We want to take more groups out this year. We want people to know what we do and that we're available to take them on these trips."
The trips usually last an hour or two and the boat seats 14 people. The group provides a captain to drive the boat and a first mate to ensure guests are safe and comfortable during the trip. They even provide the bait and fishing rods and reels for fishing trips.
"It's great to see the joy on people's faces," Schroeder said. "That's why we do it."
The pontoon boat is available to groups looking to spend a day out on the lake.
Many who take advantage of these trips would not otherwise have the opportunity to spend time on the lake, and the Let's Go Fishing volunteers make sure they have a day to remember.
Anyone interested in learning more about Let's Go Fishing or taking a group on a trip this summer can call Stephanie at the Oneida County Senior Center at (715) 369-6170.
The organization wanted to thank everyone who came out for the fish fry.
