"This is a time when I am reminded of how our DATCP employees exemplify our agency's core values in carrying out their daily work," Secretary Ben Brancel said in a press release. "We serve a diverse group of constituents, from farmers to business owners to consumers."
Each year the department names one Employee of the Year from each of its six divisions to enshrine in its Hall of Fame. Jorata represents the Food Safety Division, where he is a food scientist licensing technical specialist.
"Jorata was nominated for his tremendous work ethic in assisting food establishment operators acquire the correct licenses they need for the business they wish to operate," the release states. "He has been a strong proponent of the upcoming merger of the food and recreational licensing section of the Wisconsin Department of Health into DATCP. Jorata loves what he does and it shows."
"At DATCP, we share the core values of dedication, accountability, teamwork, customer service and professionalism," said Brancel. "Thanks to Brian, our other Employees of the Year, and all of our staff, for embodying these core values as we serve Wisconsin throughout the year."
Other Employees of the Year for 2016 are Kathy Walker, Katy Vosburg, Jason Mollet, Christine Stamm, and David Sander.
