Rhinelander Black falls to Lakeland Black

Rhinelander twice got back to within a pair of runs, at 6-4 in the fourth and 7-5 in the fifth, but Lakeland responded with single runs in the fifth and the sixth in a game that was called after six when the two-hour time limit elapsed.
The Hodags collected three hits in the contest. Walker Hartman singled and scored on a passed ball in the first. Drake Martin had a hit in the third, Travis Towne singled in the fourth and Lucius McCann hit a double in the fifth.
Rhinelander Black closed out the regular season 5-9 with the loss.
Tournament schedule
The regular season championship games will be played Tuesday at Stafford Field. Rhinelander White will take part in the Prep League championship against either Lakeland Silver or Merrill Gray. The two teams finished tied for second in the Prep League standings and played a play-in game Monday in Minocqua that concluded after deadline. Rhinelander Gray will face Tomahawk at 7:30 p.m. in the Senior League championship game.
The Northwoods Babe Ruth League tournament will begin Friday.
Rhinelander Gray and Rhinelander White, by virtue of having the best regular season records in the Senior and Prep leagues, respectively, have claimed the No. 1 seeds for the tournament and will host quarterfinal games Friday. Rhinelander White will host the winner of the Eagle River-Crandon play-in game at 5 p.m. and Rhinelander Gray will take on Crandon at 7:30 p.m.
Laser Pros will travel to Eagle River to play a Senior League quarterfinal Friday. In the Prep League, Rhinelander White will play at Lakeland Silver. Both games will start at 5:30 p.m.
The tournament championship games are set for Tuesday, July 19 at Stafford Field.
