Nicolet culinary arts department, business instructor honored with Dr. Robert Steger Awards
The culinary arts department, represented by instructor Kevin Brown, received the $1,000 Dr. Robert Steger Innovation Award to increase sustainability aspects to the program, the college said in a press release.
This will include constructing a vertical garden of fresh herbs, known as a live wall, for students to use in their culinary creations.
Phillips received the $500 Dr. Robert Steger Professional Development Award. He'll use the funds to help offset costs of a job shadow experience this summer with top management and leadership at the nationally-recognized Engelhart Motorsports dealership in Madison and the Indian of Madison motorcycle dealership, the release states.
Phillips will focus on customer service, customer experience, and sales, all of which are elements he teaches in Nicolet Business classes.
Dr. Robert Steger was Nicolet's first dean of instruction. The annual awards are funded through an endowment in honor of his foundational work in building the college's first academic programs.
