The public is invited to drop in from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 9 and join ceramic artist Rita Kickert at the potters wheel on the LOLA deck.
"Kickert has been making functional pottery for over 15 years now and loves to share what she does with others," according to a gallery press release. "If you have always wanted to try your hand at playing with clay, this is your chance. Dress for fun mess or cover-ups are provided. This is a free event open to all ages."
Watch carver Cheryl Campbell of Rhinelander as she uses chain saws to carve intricate details into wood. Campbell will be carving outside in the LOLA parking lot on Saturday, July 16 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. What creature will emerge from the heart of the wood? Only the artist knows. This is a free demonstration.
Saturday, July 23 is a big day for Land O' Lakes and LOLA with many activities scheduled all over town. LOLA will again host the Wisconsin Kiters Club at the LOL Airport from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for a kite flying demonstration. Come see the giant kites as they take flight. There will also be a free kite building workshop from 9 a.m. to noon for kids. Kids will design and decorate their kite and with help from the kite club members, build and then fly their kites. The Wisconsin Kiters Club has been call "the family kite club" and promote kiting as a family form of entertainment. They are a non-profit membership organization and have members from all over the state. They hold kite fly-ins and workshops throughout the year. Visit their website at wisconsinkitersclub.com.
Also on the 23rd, the public is invited to the 33rd annual Art Impressions Fine Art and Craft Show at the town hall from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. LOLA is the new sponsor of this classic show featuring over 80 artisans and a wide variety of art.
Members of the Headwaters Art League will also be available in the LOLA Center art room, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
"Watch members work on their art projects, ask questions and view completed works in a variety of media," the release states. "This is the day in Land O' Lakes to make art a part of your up north experience."
