Rhinelander Soccer Club teams compete in Appleton
The Northwoods United U14 team, a co-op of boys from Rhinelander, Three Lakes and Eagle River, played in the gold division and came home with first-place trophies after winning four soccer games over the weekend.
Saturday morning, NWU played the Chicago City Soccer Club U14 Blue, winning 2-1 with goals from Trystan Sanderfoot and Daniel Ritchie.
Northwoods United then defeated Wisconsin Rapids Kickers, a team they face in their regular season league, Saturday afternoon.
Sanderfoot, Nicholas St. Pierre and Ritchie scored in United's 3-1 win.
On Sunday United faced U14B Oshkosh United Green, the only other team in the bracket with two wins. Hugh Wiese scored a goal off a corner kick in the second half to give Northwoods a 1-0 win.
The team ended with a 5-3 win over Task U14B Freedom. Sanderfoot, St. Pierre, Ritchie and Miles Wentworth all contributed goals.
Colby Kruse made a huge impact as goalkeeper, additionally players in the midfield and defense controlled the ball with great passes.
The Rhinelander Soccer Club U10 boys' team also had a successful weekend in Appleton, winning all of their games.
They played U10 Upper Peninsula Northern Stars, Headwaters Youth Soccer U10, and New United Momentum U10.
All eight players contributed goals during the weekend.
