Northwoods favorite Phil Wickham and Friends to perform at Nicolet College Jan. 26
"He has this easy-going persona that, combined with his rich musical talents, create this unique shared experience for everyone who sees him play," said Jim Nuttall, director of the Nicolet College Theatre.
Wickham will bring his considerable talents to the Nicolet College Theatre Tuesday, Jan. 26, where he will be joined on stage by friends and musicians Pete Pagel and Oscar Neotzel from the band Dig Deep from Stevens Point and long-time local favorite Scott Kirby.
"I love playing with these guys every chance I get," Wickham said. "They're phenomenal musicians who really know how to put on a great show. I consider this my all-star band."
As a seasoned vocalist, guitar player, and mainstay in the Northwoods music scene, Wickham's style reflects everything from his punk-rock influences in his younger days to his more recent love of the bluegrass era.
Many know this Rhinelander native as the emcee and a performer at the Wednesday open mic events at Divano's at the Minocqua Brewing Company, and through his numerous performances at festivals and other establishments throughout the region.
"The Northwoods has many very talented musicians," Nuttall noted. "We want to showcase these individuals and encourage the local music scene to grow as much as possible."
Tickets for the 7:30 p.m. show of Phyl Wickham and Friends are $10 and can be purchased online at nicoletlive.com or by calling (715) 365-4646.
The local musician theme will continue at Nicolet this spring when Northwoods country artist and Hodag Fest favorite Brad Emanuel takes to the Nicolet Theatre stage at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 1.
