Slumberland's annual Homes for the Holidays program returns
Slumberland Furniture of Minocqua and Rhinelander is once again holding its annual Homes for the Holidays program, donating mattresses, box springs and frames to children in need in the local area. "We try to increase our donation every year, and this year we are donating 54 sets. 2015 was 40 sets, and the 2014 was 32 sets." Jason Hesch, owner of the two local Slumberland franchise locations, said in a press release.
"Slumberland stores across the Midwest all participate in this program, and since 1993 over 25,000 sets have been donated to kids sleeping on the floors." Hesch partners with local charities to help locate the children in need. This year he is partnering with a charity in Rhinelander, and a charity in Lac Du Flambeau.
When the Rhinelander location opened its new building this summer the company donated 40 beds.
"We paired with our non-profit charity called the 40 Winks Foundation to donate the beds," said Hesch. "We tore down the old building and built a beautiful brand new building in the same spot that is much more functional for us and our customers."
The Hesch family has been involved in the two locations for 8 years, participating in the event each year. Jason and Elisa Hesch became the new local owners of the two locations last year when they built the new building in Rhinelander.
"It's simply amazing to be in a position to be able to help get a child off of the floor, or out of a poor sleeping situation and give them a new bed to sleep on," Hesch said. "Sleep plays an extremely important role in the development of our children, and if we can help them even the slightest, it is worth it."
