James (Jim) Walter Meyer of Llano, Texas passed away Friday, Dec. 9, 2016, at the age of 94. He was born Sept. 18, 1922, to Julia (Trotier) and Walter Meyer in Rhinelander. He married Charlene Emma DeCanter, also from Rhinelander, at St. Mary's Catholic Church on April 26, 1952. They enjoyed a loving and devoted marriage for 64 years.

Jim served in the United States Air Force, where he attained the rank of First Lieutenant as a bombardier pilot during World War II for state-side training. After his discharge, he obtained a bachelor of science in engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Jim worked as a cost engineer and project manager for multiple companies on many significant construction projects, which led him to move with his family to places nationally and internationally, including the Netherlands, France, and Taiwan.

Jim was a member of the American Legion, Knights of Columbus, Lincoln Continental Owners Club, and a founding member of the American Association of Cost Engineers.

Jim is survived by his wife Charlene; daughters: Barbara Craun (Steve) of Hayden, Idaho, and Carol Warkoczewski (Tom) of San Antonio, Texas; grandchildren: Rebecca Weeks (Dave) of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, Stephen Craun of Hayden, Idaho, Carla Bingaman (Scott) of Seguin, Texas, and Christen Warkoczewski of San Antonio, Texas; great-grandchildren: Nathan and Tristan Weeks and Emma Bingaman, and sister Shirley Lindwall and her late husband Carl of Elkhorn.

Jim was preceded in death by son Gregory and infant daughters Rose and Michelle Meyer, and his parents Julia and Walter Meyer.

A rosary and visitation will be held 7:15 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 16, 2016 at Waldrope Hatfield Hawthorne Funeral Chapel in Llano. Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 17,2016 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Llano, Texas with Father Melvin Dornak officiating. Internment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in Rhinelander. A separate celebration service will be at the grave site in summer of 2017.
