Sure, there's grumbling about why we don't use the popular vote to elect our presidents, but no one reasonably doubts that Trump triumphed in the Electoral College, where it counts.
And, yes, hysterical Hillary supporters are desperate to try something, anything, to change the outcome of an election they were told by the media they could not lose, but did.
What is reasonable to believe is that these partisan shenanigans will backfire on the parties pursuing them, primarily Jill Stein of the Green Party, joined by Democrat Hillary Clinton. Already lawmakers in all three states are considering legislation to prevent future also-rans and disruptive losers from holding our elections hostage.
And they should, for with no reasonable, tangible evidence of any fraud whatsoever, these two are outrageously extending an election Americans wanted to be over, so they could spend a peaceful holiday season with families and friends.
Jill Stein and Hillary Clinton are making Americans suffer them; they refuse to let divided families heal, or at least set their political differences aside for the holidays. The truth is, Stein and Clinton are yelling about stolen elections only to cover up their own thievery: They are the grinches out to steal Christmas, along with voter trust in our electoral system.
It would be quite a heist, if these embezzlers could loot and pilfer the middle-class hopes of desperate Midwestern families, and ruin Christmas to boot.
As has been widely reported, in October Clinton said Trump's campaign threat not to accept the results of the election imperiled the nation: "Donald Trump refused to say that he'd respect the results of this election. By doing that, he's threatening our democracy."
Of course, that's exactly what Clinton and Stein are doing, and all for a partisan cause. If it wasn't partisan, if it was really all about testing the integrity of the voting system, Stein and Clinton would be pursuing recounts in states that Clinton only closely won, not merely in the three states that would conveniently overturn the election if fraud were somehow miraculously found.
What about New Hampshire? Why didn't Stein demand a recount there, where Clinton prevailed by fewer than 3,000 votes? What about New Mexico, where Clinton won by a margin that is less than Trump's margin in Pennsylvania? What about Nevada, where Clinton prevailed by only about 27,000 votes?
Is it only possible to hack votes in states Trump won?
Indeed, not everybody in Green Party land is enamored with Stein's recount stunt, and they make these same points in a letter disavowing the decision, signed by a long list of Green Party voters, party officials, and candidates, including Cynthia McKinney, the party's 2008 presidential nominee.
"The decision to pursue a recount was not made in a democratic or a strategic way, nor did it respect the established decision making processes and structures of the Green Party of the United States," the letter states. "The recount has created confusion about the relationship between the Green and Democratic parties because the states chosen for the recount are only states in which Hillary Clinton lost. There were close races in other states such as New Hampshire and Minnesota where Clinton won, but which were not part of the recount."
Precisely, and many Democrats - including the White House - are none too pleased that Clinton would wade into the very waters she said were full of alligators waiting to eat American democracy.
Democrats who want to reconnect with Midwestern working-class voters that Hillary lost are rightly concerned that Clinton is further alienating those very voters by challenging the integrity of their votes, and to treat them as zombies who, of course, will always obviously vote Democratic because they can't think on their own.
In this mindset, if Clinton lost traditionally Democratic counties, the election must have been stolen because those voters are stupid and their votes are already rigged into her column.
Democrats are also rightly concerned that Clinton is doing this to keep herself relevant so foreign donors will keep pumping money into the Clinton Foundation. Never trust a Clinton, and this cynical ploy is exactly why a criminal investigation of Clinton and the foundation needs to proceed.
Meanwhile the Trump train rolls on toward a new era of freedom and prosperity. While Stein and Clinton play cynical politics for partisan and personal gain, Trump has doubled down on his campaign pledges and appointed laudable people who are certain to expand school choice, take down Obamacare, and torpedo the Trans Pacific Partnership, all the while convincing Carrier executives - whom he repeatedly denounced for their plan to take American jobs to Mexico - to keep 1,000 job in the U.S. that they previously announced they were exporting.
Imagine, he's not even president yet, and a thousand families saved.
So, if you can't seem to get into the holiday spirit because of an election that just won't quit, take heart. An American Santa is on his way, and, as he says, he'll be shouting 'Merry Christmas' rather than suppressing it. Meanwhile, you know who to thank for the endless politics of division and fear-mongering, and who to blame.
For when it comes to attacking the integrity of our most fundamental institutions, Jill Stein and Hillary Clinton have no equals. And they simply have no shame.
