Green Bay woman wins Downtown Open House grand prize
By Kayla Thomason-
Hensler attended the open house as part of a girl's weekend.
"I thought it was great," she said in a phone interview. "Normally, when we do our girl's weekend - in the past - we've gone to Appleton and done the big malls and stuff like that, and my cousin had suggested staying closer - because she's from there too - and staying closer to Rhinelander and doing the little shops down there. So that's what we did and it was a lot of fun."
She enjoyed Christmas shopping, particularly at a local toy store.
"I have three kids so I loved Imaginuity, I like the fact that the games are out there and you can test them out," she said.
While she was finding gifts for her children and other loved ones, the guys went hunting or were with the children.
"We had a lot of fun, we spent all day out there, went out to dinner downtown too, so it was fun," Hensler said.
She and her family found out she won the prize last weekend.
"Before I even knew we won we were discussing at the end of the weekend how we were probably going to do it up there again next year," she said.
The 2017 Downtown Open House will be held opening deer hunting weekend as usual and plans are already forming for the event.
