The championship race will be held this Sunday in Oshkosh.
"The state championship is scored by the racers finish that day along with their top four scores from the state qualifier series," Hodag BMX spokesperson Beth Ives said. "Some of our riders are currently ranked No. 1.
The club's results in Appleton were as follows:
• Addison Swaney: 2nd, 5 and under novice
• James Wergin: 3rd, 6 intermediate
• Ashton Swaney: 2nd, 9 expert
• Owen Ives: 2nd, 10 expert
• Bella Johnson: 3rd, 11 novice
• Emerson Swaney: 2nd, 11 girls
• J.J. Wergin: 1st, 28-35 intermediate
• Chad Johnson: 3rd, 28-35 expert
Recently, several riders at the track have moved up in classification. Awarded with a USABMX certificate of graduating from a strider/balance bike to pedals and cranks were Dawson Sachse, Liam Kennedy, Henry Rivord and Mathew Schettino.
Gabe Kennedy reached a milestone of 10 novice wins, he received a his USABMX recognition certificate and is now classified as an intermediate.
Chad Johnson recorded his 30th career win, turning expert.
"This has been a record breaking year for Hodag BMX with riders moving up in ranks," Ives said.
The club held its last points race of the season Friday and will have a season-ending fun race Saturday, Sept. 10.
