Eagle River Speedway to host Truck class on select nights in 2016
According to track promoter Kevin Dawson, the Northwoods bullring will hold a four-Race Speedway Truck Series this summer. The first race for the specially-built race trucks will be Friday, May 27.
"This is going to be in addition to our weekly schedule of racing in five other classes," Dawson said. "The Trucks bring in a whole new level of excitement for the fans."
While the Micro Sprint 600s will be one of the five classes that will run every Friday night, the track will also have a special night featuring Micro Sprint drivers from throughout the Midwest.
The Midwest Micro Sprint Series will hold its first race June 3 according to Dawson.
WISSOTA-sanctioned Midwest Modifieds and Street Stocks, Pure Stocks and Junior Sprints round out the five weekly racing classes.
Eagle River Speedway kicks off its 42nd year of racing with a practice night May 13. The season opener is slated for the following Friday, May 20.
"Whether it is a special night with the Speedway Trucks, a Micro Sprint Series special, or the popular Spectator one-on-one nights, our adrenaline is flowing as fast as the race fuel to get the season, and the summer started," Dawson said.
The one-third mile dirt track will also hold special Quad and Side by Side XTreme Challenge races. It won't just be the racers vying for trophies and cash, the fans will have a chance to join in the winning on June 10 during the Tori Stevens Memorial Race. Dozens of bicycles to give away to children that evening.
