Proceeds from Rhinelander native's upcoming concert to benefit Ireland's Hope
By Kayla Thomason-
While recording his first solo song at Atomic K Studios in Minneapolis, Minn., Jon Storm, a pop music singer/songwriter who was born and raised in Rhinelander, met the president of the studio. The studio president told him about a Minnesota girl named Ireland and her struggle to find a new heart.
"As I would come back to Minneapolis and visit the studio I would get updates and learn more and more about her and the family and the cause," Storm said.
He learned that the family started a foundation called Ireland's Hope to raise awareness for organ donors and to help families who are waiting for an organ donation.
With the release of his first single, "Love Me Now," Storm set up an iTunes account that allows the proceeds from sales of the song to go to Ireland's Hope foundation.
That's not all.
Storm is planning a concert on May 6 to celebrate the release. Twenty-five percent of the net proceeds from the concert will go to Ireland's Hope.
Those 18 years of age and older can attend the concert, which will be held at the Fine Line Music Cafe in Minneapolis, Minn. The doors open at 7:30 p.m. and the show starts at 8 p.m.
Tickets are $10 in advance or $15 at the door.
The album, titled "Brand New Day," will be Storm's first release as a solo artist.
"We're really excited to release the album and share it with everybody," he said.
Storm said it is a positive and upbeat record and compared the style to a mixture of Coldplay and Imagine Dragons.
"It's definitely pop music and adult contemporary," he said.
Storm started performing with bands in 2002 but has played music most of his life. He is skilled on the piano and keyboard.
He was born and raised in Rhinelander and is a Rhinelander High School graduate. He moved out of the area in 1996.
Those who attend the concert will have the opportunity to donate to Ireland's Hope and whoever donates $25 or more will receive a free CD.
