The event will be held from noon to 6 p.m. April 16 at Bucketheads in Rhinelander.
Ronda (Dickison) Schrump was diagnosed with Stage 4 breast cancer that metastasized to Stage 2 adrenal and lung cancer. The disease has since spread to her spine, bones, sternum, neck and lymph nodes.
"She can sneeze sideways and she cracks ribs and stuff, fractures them, because her bones are very, very brittle," said Erin Doggett, Schrump's daughter.
Schrump was originally diagnosed in 2003 and was in remission for about five years before the disease reappeared.
According to her daughter, Schrump is trying chemotherapy as a last resort.
"It's a slow-progressing cancer, they call it, but they can't give her a time frame because if the chemo works she might be able to be on chemo, as long as the levels stay down, for quite a while but if the chemo stops working there's nothing really else to do because she has done all the trial drugs that are out there," Doggett said.
Schrump will have a CAT scan to see if the cancer has spread.
"It's been a nightmare is all I can say," Doggett added. "One second you're fine and the next second you don't know how long you have."
She describes her mother as incredibly family-oriented.
"She's a big family person, family is the only thing she ever cares about," Doggett said.
She added that Schrump's maternal instincts are still very strong as she frets about her family's well-being.
Schrump's son, Derek Mohr, lives out of state, but the distance hasn't dampened her maternal instinct.
She is also a dotting grandmother to a 7-year-old granddaughter but whenever her grandchild is ill she can't see her.
"She's just an easy-going lovable person, I mean I don't know of anybody that doesn't even like her," Doggett said. "She's bubbly, nice."
Organizers hope the benefit will help ease Schrump's financial burden while she continues to battle cancer.
There will be 50/50 and paddle wheel raffles, with a variety of prizes donated by businesses and individuals such as hotel stays, guided fishing trips, gift certificates and much more.
There will be white T-shirts for sale with "We don't know how strong we are until being strong is the only choice we have" written in black. A pink ribbon is also on the shirt, which comes in all sizes and costs $15
Pink bracelets with "Hope for Ronda," "strength, courage" in black writing will be sold for $5.
In addition to the clothing, there will be a bake sale with delectable cookies, brownies and more.
Attendees can enjoy music by Scott Kirby and Mixin Matts DJ'N.
