Few can say that they were so lucky to experience and enjoy such a full life as much as Mike did. His life's journey took him across the country, letting him serve in a variety of roles. Over the years, you could find Mike in positions within the Crandon Telephone Company, Mitchell Enterprises, Connor Farms, and Exxon Minerals. Additionally, he served his community as the town of Lincoln chairman and as a member of the Crandon National Bank Board of Directors. In every task he undertook, he committed himself whole-heartedly and shared his positivity, wisdom and humor with all in his company.
Mike's greatest roles were farmer, friend and family man. Mike loved driving his grandkids to school each day and, after, visiting with his lifelong friends at the Log Cabin. His favorite times were those spent on his farm, living a country life with his black angus cows, his collie dogs, and his family whom he loved very much. Hobbs Farm was a gathering place where he made everyone feel welcome by his big smile or a head rub. He taught us all so many life lessons, including working hard, playing hard, how to find the good in everyone, and how to always be humble and kind. Over a cold Pepsi, Mike was always available to offer his friends and family the best advice. He made memories for his family through family trips, hayrides, four-wheeler rides, fairs, parades, and many fun family gatherings. He gave so much love to so many people and they loved him in return.
The loved ones Mike leaves behind include his wife Nancy, sister Kathleen Taft, brother David Hobbs and six children: Cheryl, Kathy (Mel) Flannery, Paula (Todd) Kalata, Jody (Jason) Flannery, Paul "Hambone" (Ranae) Hobbs, and Mary (CJ) Cochrane. Mike's spirit lives on further in his 17 grandchildren: Melissa, Adam, Hunter, and Stetson Flannery; Matt, Makenna, and Carson Kalata; Jasee, Cody, Mikenzie, and Ty Flannery; Michael and Mac Hobbs; Sarah, Laura, Zachary and Alex Cochrane; along with all his extended family and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Margaret Wilbur.
For all who loved Mike Hobbs, we ask you to join us in celebrating his beautiful life! Visitation will be held on Friday, April 8 from 4 to 8 p.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Crandon and Saturday, April 9 from 10 to 11 am. A funeral mass will follow at 11 a.m. with Father John Cerkas officiating. Mike will be laid to rest at Crandon Lakeside Cemetery.
