The fountain was donated by Bob and June Heck in the 1990s, shortly after the course opened, but had become overgrown and fallen into disrepair. Heck said shrubs and trees had hindered the visibility of the fountain to the point that it was only visible if standing immediately in front of it.
Now the fountain is visible from five holes on the back nine and feeds into a stepped stream into a holding pond.
Heck said his family takes its civic responsibility very seriously and was happy to help.
The fountain is fed by a well pump pushing 800 gallons a minute over the 30-foot waterfall - which also serves to aerate the water - and down a stream back to the ponds.
"Every community has someone who kind of keeps things moving forward," Northwood Golf Club Head Professional Dan Buckley said of Heck.
The club has plans for additional plantings to be put in around the fountain come spring 2016. The Northwood Golf Club has a 4.5 out of five star rating in Golf Digest. More information and golf fees can be found online at northwoodgolfclub.com.
