Snowshoe and rocking chair weaving class offered at Trees for Tomorrow

Trees For Tomorrow, a natural resources specialty school in Eagle River, is offering a weekend class for people who want to weave traditional snowshoes or a snowshoe rocker.

The class will takes place Oct. 10-11, however, pre-registration by Sept. 11 is required. Fee for the adult workshop is $300 and includes materials, instruction, lunch both days, and two nights lodging at Trees For Tomorrow. Commuters pay $250 which includes materials, instruction, and lunch both days.

Using traditional Canadian frames and weaving methods, participants will be guided step-by-step through each phase of the weaving process. By the end of the weekend, they will leave with a completely woven and assembled pair of snowshoes or a snowshoe rocker.

Snowshoe weavers can choose between two styles of snowshoes: Alaskan and Bear Paw, or a Snowshoe Rocking Chair.
