JWMS boys' cross country team wins in Mosinee

The James Williams Middle School boys' cross country team placed seven runners in the top 18 Tuesday and took first place at the Mosinee Invite at Nine Mile Forest in Rib Mountain.

The Hodags placed four runners in the top 10, led by Jacob Weddle, who completed the 2.5-kilometer course in 13 minutes, 58.2 seconds. Jaden Beske took sixth (14:46.8), Alex Kubeny was ninth (15:23.2) and Cal Laggis finished 10th (15:32.8). Rounding out the scoring for the JWMS boys were Tristan Fuss (14th, 16:37.3), Daniel Goldsworthy (16th, 17:19.6) and Samuel Fehlen (18th, 17:46.1).

Brynn Brzycki was Rhinelander's top finisher on the girls' side. She placed 12th oveall with a time of 16:23.2. Megan Brown was 14th (16:59.1), Sage Flory finished 16th (17:11.8), Delaney Chillemi was 17th (17:14.5), Audrey Schiek was 18th (17:15.8), Susanna Lyon took 52nd (24:18.4) and Reagan Hartman was 53rd (24:27.2).

The Hodags will host their home middle school race at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 10 in front of Rhinelander High School.
