Hodag BMX Club takes three state championships
Ashton Swaney brought home the state championship in the eight-year-old Expert class. Raven Sturtevant won a state championship in the 13- and 14-year-old cruiser class and Rob Deede brought home the gold in the 28-35 expert class.
Several other local riders took part in the event, many of whom reached the podium.
The club's second-place winners were Emerson Swaney (10 Girls), Raven Sturtevant (13 Girls) and Cassandra Walkowski (18-20 Girls).
Third-place winners were: Trevin Walkowski (11 Expert), Owen Ives (9 Intermediate) and Brian Sturtevant (41-45 Intermediate).
Brock Walkowski (14 Expert) and Brian Sturtevant (41-45 Cruiser) added fourth-place finishes.
Four other Hodag BMX racers participated but did not qualify for the state championship.
J.J. Wergin finished second in his final race, James Wergin and Addison Swaney battled in the 5 and under class, Alex Aguirre took third in his race and Armando Aguirre took fourth in his last race.
The Hodag BMX Club's 2015 season is winding down. The club will close out the season with a single-point race night Friday, Sept. 11 and an awards picnic Saturday, Sept. 12.
