AmeriGas donates to PBIS program and FBLA/DECA Club
"The Amerigas team raised funds for donation through BBQ cylinder sales on their customer appreciation day," the school district said in a press release. "They took 50 percent of every sale and set it aside for donation to the School District of Rhinelander. Every year they pick a day, typically 'Ridikulus Dae,' and run a sale on BBQ cylinder fillups, then make a donation to support the community."
In prior years, the company has donated to the Rhinelander Area Food Pantry and began a "fill a backpack" program in support of the Kids in Need organization. This year, AmeriGas added a second cylinder-filling sale day in an effort to increase its community contribution. The company dedicated one sale day to the school district and the other to "fill a backpack" and both had tremendous community support, the release states.
"Their team decided on the school district this year to assist programs that could use more funding support; the youth are our future and should have every opportunity to actively grow," the release continues.
Every school in the district has implemented a PBIS program. The goal of PBIS is to promote and teach appropriate pro-social skills and behaviors to maximize academic success for all students. In addition, it provides a systems and process approach for teaching behavior, a continuum of behavioral supports, prevention focused efforts to reduce behavioral problems, specific instruction of academic and personal/social behavior, research-based practices, and ongoing use of data to make decisions regarding needs and successes at the building level.
FBLA/DECA at RHS prepares students for "real world" professional experiences in business management and administration, finance, marketing, hospitality and tourism, logistics and related careers. Members are provided with unique opportunities to practice the skills and knowledge they are learning in the classroom; as well as gaining the competitive edge for college and career success.
