Reno R. Penasa, 75, of Rhinelander, formerly of Newald, passed away Monday, Oct. 26, 2015, at the Friendly Village Nursing Home. Reno was born Aug. 29, 1940 the son of Edward and Doris (Sheldon) Penasa. He graduated from Laona High School with the class of 1958. He was united in marriage to Shirley Stanley Sept. 6, 1958 at St. Leonard Catholic Church. He was a hard working laborer at both Goodman and Conner Lumber Mills and also worked in repair service for Conner's Store. He and Shirley owned and operated R & S General Store from 1982 through 1986. He was a member of the Newald volunteer Fire Department. They moved to Rhinelander and he worked as a laborer for Triumph Twist Drill until retirement. In his younger years he was the lead singer in "The Blue Angels" band and played the accordion. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, and hunting.
Reno is survived by his daughters, Wendy Penasa, Crandon; Sherry (Mark) Roffers, Rhinelander; and Heidi (Jeff) Piette, DePere; brother, Dennis (Shirley) Penasa, DePere; 14 grandchildren, Reno, Josh, C.J., Zachariah, Rebecca, Rachel, Jordan, William, Dakota, Christopher, Gabrielle, Michael, Jeremy and Alexis; and nine great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Aidan, Zadyn, Aryanna, LuLu, R.J. Caleb, Moriah, and Skylar.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Lisa Penasa, and grandson, David Michael Ingram. Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, 2015 at Weber-Hill Funeral Home, Crandon with Pastor Bill Farr from Praise Chapel officiating.
