Someone you should know: Tammy Ellis, Executive Director of Kids in Need
By Kayla Thomason-
RN: Please explain your job or activity.
Ellis: As executive director of the Kids In Need Youth Program, my job is to put together programming, do the budget, do all grant reporting, fundraise, and make sure my staff has everything they need to do their job in working with the teenagers within this area.
RN: How long have you held this job or activity?
Ellis: I have been with the program for 10 years. I began as an Americorps member and continued on taking on more responsibility over the years.
RN: What is your favorite part of the job or activity?
Ellis: My favorite part of this job is any time spent with the youth. Working with this age group is my passion in life.
RN: What is the biggest misconception about the job or activity?
Ellis: The biggest misconception about this job is that a big title means big money. With recent budget cuts I have made the decision to make my position a part-time position. I have accepted a position at the Human Service Center in Rhinelander and I am looking forward to continuing to work within this community in a human service field. Kids In Need is my baby and I will make sure it is well taken care of in my absence.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
Ellis: I love to read, I also enjoy spending time shopping with my daughter. It is always an adventure.
