Bobby Bullet to perform at the Rhinelander District Library
Bobby Bullet is to Indian Country, what Hank Williams is to country music - a legend.
"Bullet, a member of the Lac du Flambeau Band of Lake Superior Chippewa, is a guitarist/ singer/ songwriter whose career spans 60 years," the library said in a press release. "He is an accomplished and versatile folk and country musician, a storyteller, and a tribal elder who builds bridges of understanding and acceptance between all cultures and generations."
His work has been recognized by the Native American Music Association, which awarded him the 2010 Lifetime Achievement Award as well as nominating his album, "Scrapbook," for eight awards. In 2011, he was again nominated by NAMA for Artist of the Year, and Best Pop Recording for his album, "Bigfoot." In addition, he was honored in 2014 by the Indian Summer Music Awards with a Lifetime Achievement Award.
Bullet will perform songs from his most recent album, "Justice in Time," as well as his past music. His wife, Pamela Nesbit, will accompany him on a variety of instruments and with vocals. She is a versatile musician in her own right, playing a variety of instruments, including the traditional cedar flute and hand drum. A Native American Arts and Cultures Foundation Music Fellowship assisted Bullet with completing "Justice in Time." Native artists join him on this collection of original song-stories of Native communities from the upper Midwest. In addition, he has been collaborating with the Lac du Flambeau public school and Waswaaganing Players in the "Standing Tall" theatre production performances. He tutors students in guitar and provides original music for the production.
Funding for this program is provided by the RDL Foundation.
