Nicolet instructor honored, scholarships awarded at restaurant association event
Mendham received the honor for her "contributions to education, the community, and the food service industry," according to the WRA.
She is actively involved with the WRA Education Foundation, serves as a judge at the association's annual statewide high school culinary arts competition, and is a member of the Northland Pines High School Technical Education Advisory Panel. She received the honor at the Wisconsin Restaurant Association's annual Celebration of Excellence in Milwaukee.
Mendham has taught Culinary Arts at Nicolet for more than 20 years and is a regular favorite of students, the college said in a press release.
"Vicki is very knowledgeable and knows how to make learning fun," said second-year Culinary Arts student Jared Demmith. "She brings a lot of real-world experience into the kitchen."
Theresa Berscheit, also in her second year of the associate degree program, described Mendham as "awesome."
"She makes everything feel comfortable in the kitchen and that makes for a great learning experience."
Four Nicolet Culinary Arts students were also awarded scholarships at the event. They include Clare Busalacchi, Park Falls, Elissa Skaggs, Bennett, Maggie Smith, Stone Lake, and Alexandra Weber, Gleason. In all, 23 Culinary Arts students from across the state were awarded more than $36,000 in scholarships.
