Marshfield Clinicgeneral surgeon expands practice to Rhinelander
Open space in the Rhinelander Dental Center facility will allow him to provide outreach services in that community, Marshfield Clinic said in a press release. The dental center, which is operated by Family Health Center of Marshfield, Inc., in conjunction with Marshfield Clinic, is located at 2268 N. Shore Drive, Rhinelander, across from St. Mary's Hospital.
Phillips now provides general surgical services at Marshfield Clinic Minocqua Center and has expertise in all aspects of general surgery, including laparoscopy and endoscopy.
"I enjoy providing patients with leading edge, quality care in a small town," Phillips said. "The variety of what I do is exciting to me."
Originally from Pittsburgh, Pa., he attended medical school at Hahnemann University School of Medicine in Philadelphia then returned to Pittsburgh to complete a general surgery residency at Allegheny General Hospital. Phillips is certified by the American Board of General Surgery.
Phillips, his wife and their three children moved to northern Wisconsin in 2005. He is a ham radio operator and has spoken to people in more than 200 countries. He says his hobby is especially fun during cold winter days. He is also active with a group that flies radio-controlled airplanes.
