As of September, Kate Bauman is a partner in the business, joining Christiane Micheletti.
"Christiane and I have known each other for a few years," Bauman said. "One day when I came into her shop she asked if I would be interested and, upon realizing she was serious, I never looked back."
"I have really missed being creative and she needed help to run the store and produce new products," Bauman added. "With both of us working together it helps make the business more efficient."
Shortly after Bauman came onboard, they moved Shabby Cottage to a bigger location at 51 S. Brown St. in Rhinelander.
"It means more retail space to be able to spread out and offer more items, but it also allows us a workshop and classroom space upstairs which enables us to be constantly working on new products and custom pieces," Bauman said.
Despite the changes, Shabby Cottage is still carrying its signature shabby chic furniture and home decor.
"Customers have really loved the new space," Bauman said. "It gives them room to move around and see what's here, and with the extra space we can have more pieces out and make more changes to keep them coming back to see what's new."
Bauman and Micheletti are pleased to announce that Shabby Cottage can now create and sell custom-built pieces and signs. Bauman's husband, Elvis Bauman, is a carpenter and he will be helping to build the pieces.
With the added space the two are considering expanding classes and topics, Bauman added.
The store will be offering classes starting in January.
Gift certificates for the classes will be available during the holidays and the schedule for January will be up soon.
Visit Shabby Cottage for more information or to sign up.
Store hours are Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
