Nicolet students excel at Business Professionals of America competition
"Compared to other colleges our size, Nicolet students performed among the best in the nation," said Helen Fries, BPA advisor and Administrative Professional/Office Technology instructor at Nicolet. "They did an outstanding job and should be commended for all of the hard work they put into preparing for the competition. It paid off for every one of them."
The competition categories and how students finished are as follows:
• Website Design, Team 1 - 2nd place: Tammy Retzlaff, EvaMarie Bybee, Jordan Slominski, Carl Anderson
• Keyboarding Production - 3rd place: Jennie Swearingen;
• Website Design, Team 2 - 5th place: Ian Anderson, Tyler Garry, David Larson;
• Information Technology Concepts - 6th place: Jordan Slominski;
• Contemporary Issues - 9th Place: Craig Collins;
• Medical Office Procedures - 9th place: Christine Davis;
• Fundamentals of Web Design HTML - 10th Place: Carl Anderson; and
• Visual Basic/C# Programming - 10th place: Carl Anderson.
All of the students qualified for BPA's National Leadership Conference in Anaheim, Calif., by turning in top performances in the state competition earlier this spring.
Approximately 6,000 students, advisors and guests from throughout the United States participated in the conference. Activities included general sessions with keynote speakers, business meetings, leadership workshops, contests, election of national officers, and tours of local sights and attractions.
Business Professionals of America is the leading Career Technical Student Organization for students pursuing careers in business management, office administration, information technology and other related career fields.
