By Kayla Thomason-

As part of our continuing effort to highlight interesting people in the community, the River News is bringing readers a periodic feature entitled Someone You Should Know. Our reporters are compiling short profiles of individuals who are making valuable contributions to the community through their employment or volunteer work. Next up is Abbie Cline, school-age child care director at the YMCA of the Northwoods.

RN: Can you explain your job?

Cline: I'm in charge of summer day camp, the after-school program. I also oversee Adventure Alley and I'm part of the leadership team here at the Y, so I'm involved in a lot of the events and planning that goes on throughout the Y.

RN: How long have you held this job?

Cline: I've been here for a year and a half now.

RN: What is your favorite part of the job?

Cline: My favorite part of the job is the kids, getting to teach them and interact with them and seeing their smiling faces every day.

RN: What is the biggest misconception about the job?

Cline: I think a lot of people assume that I do just after-school or just oversee the summer camp, but there's a lot more that goes on here at the Y that I'm involved in.

RN: What do you like to do in your spare time?

Cline: The thing I like most to do in my spare time is spend time with my family. I have a husband and daughter and some pets. I also enjoy spending time with my in-laws and my parents. Otherwise, I really like to read.
