The James Beck Cancer Center received a generous donation of 47 women's and men's Thirty-One Gifts totes from Stefani Patrone of Rhinelander.

The totes for men and women were filled with socks, plastic silverware, tissues, blankets, hand sanitizer, notebooks, word search books, dōTERRA oil, lotion, ChapStick, water bottles, candy and Jamberry Nail Wraps. In addition, Patrone and her friends and family created six totes for children filled with crayons, puzzles, coloring calendars, lotion, ChapStick, blankets, water bottles, dōTERRA oil and candy.

"Cancer touches everyone, whether it's someone directly related to us or a friend," said Patrone. "I wanted to make sure the items we selected for the totes would be comfort items to support those dealing with cancer."

One of Patrone's friends suggested they include plastic silverware in the totes. "My friend's mother had cancer and metal silverware felt too abrasive when she would eat so they carried plastic silverware to help her feel comfortable while dining," added Patrone. Another friend suggested a blanket go into each tote since her mother received one when she went through treatment and felt it was a meaningful comfort item.

"I thought donating to the James Beck Cancer Center would be a great thing to do and seeing the community come together to support the idea was wonderful, but I truly didn't think it would get as big as it did," added Patrone. "I thought it would be great to donate 10 bags but 47 was way out of my realm of thinking. I was pretty excited it got as big as it did."

Patrone, who was the project coordinator and Thirty-One consultant, said she wouldn't have been able to accomplish the donation to the James Beck Cancer Center without the help of her mother Jill Kusek, and good friends, Robyn Farley, Maria Grabiec and Asavari Krizenesky.

"The girls immediately offered to help without hesitation and that was very sweet. There was no way I could handle this all by myself so we created an assembly line and filled those bags," she added. Others who donated items and helped create the totes include Karyn Hansen, Jill Kusek, Walmart, Jay Parr, Angela Harris, Sue Bart, Joanne Dart, Debbie Jors, Kim Bowman, Kim Frederickson, Heidi Bramm (dōTERRA consultant) and Meg Sprecksel (Jamberry consultant).

"Stefani and her friends and family have shown what type of impact you can have on your community if you're willing to open your heart to cancer patients," said Radiation Oncology Manager Kim Hetland, James Beck Cancer Center. "The group is truly inspiring for what they were able to accomplish and our patients will benefit from their generosity."

Six of the totes were created for children and were delivered to Ministry Saint Joseph's Children's Hospital in Marshfield.
