Gov. Walker seeks extradition of double homicide suspect
In an extradition requisition issued to Indiana Gov. Mike Pence, Walker sought to extradite 17-year-old Ashlee Martinson back to Oneida County, where she is facing two counts of first-degree intentional homicide in connection with the deaths of Jennifer and Thomas Ayers at their rural Piehl residence on March 7.
Martinson, a junior at Rhinelander High School, is in custody in Boone County, Indiana, where she was captured March 8 with her boyfriend, Ryan Sisco, who is not a suspect in the murders.
Oneida County District Attorney Michael Schiek asked Walker to seek the extradition last week, and Schiek's request was attached to the requisition sent to Indiana, according to documents released by the governor's office late Wednesday afternoon.
The Wisconsin Department of Justice reviewed Schiek's requisition application and signed off on it March 20, records show.
The requisition asks that Martinson be returned to the custody of Oneida County Sheriff Grady Hartman.
"Pursuant to the Constitution and laws of the United States, I respectfully demand that the fugitive be apprehended and delivered to Sheriff Grady Hartman and/or designee, whom I have authorized to receive and convey the fugitive to Wisconsin," Walker wrote in the requisition, which is also signed by Wisconsin Secretary of State Douglas La Follette.
Martinson declined to waive extradition earlier this month, and will remain in custody without bail at least until an April 8 court hearing in Indiana.
