Grace Hoger and Lauryn Cook, Rhinelander High School students on the Northern Edge figure skating team, won the Wisconsin High School class A figure skating championship on Sunday, March 22.

Hoger and Cook won three of the four events during the year including Sunday's finale at Greenheck Fieldhouse in Schofield. The duo needed to win the final jumps element to clinch the season title over the Fox Valley co-op team which was a close second.

The Northern Edge, a co-op of 12 skaters from Rhinelander, Three Lakes and Tomahawk high schools, took home a bronze medal in the entertainment event. Four skaters from the team also received a varsity letter for skating this weekend - Hoger, Cook, Rachel Uhlarik and Carmen Incha.

This is the third year of high school competition for the Edge.

The next stop is the U.S. Figure Skating High School finals in Strongsville, Ohio in April 19-21.

The team is seeking sponsors for its trip to nationals. For more information on how to help the team, contact Dean Hoger at [email protected].
