Ministry Health Care is investing in the future of healthcare in northern Wisconsin through renovation at Ministry Medical Group's North Shore campus in Rhinelander, the company stated in a press release Tuesday.

The renovation will enhance patient care, create a more collaborative setting for clinicians and patients, and accommodate future expansion.

The construction design and amenities were driven by feedback solicited from Ministry Medical Group's patient advisory councils, patients, clinicians and staff. Construction began on March 16 and will take place in five phases.

"Continuing to invest in the Ministry Medical Group clinic on the North Shore campus demonstrates our commitment to Rhinelander and surrounding communities," said Shishir N. Sheth, MD, regional vice president, Ministry Medical Group Northern Region. "This project focuses on providing person-centered care for our patients. These enhancements will improve the quality and efficiency of the outstanding care that is already delivered and will help staff achieve the highest levels of patient quality and satisfaction."

Patients will experience an improved layout of the clinic including a new registration area, waiting rooms, patient exam rooms and stairs to the second floor.

"Currently most patients take an elevator to the second floor as the current stairs are tucked down a hallway on the opposite end of the entrance to the clinic," said Dr. Sheth. "The new stairs will be strategically placed to allow patients and our staff to quickly access the Ministry Medical Group services on the second floor including audiology and women's health."

The newly designed registration and check out areas will be simplified, the release stated. A redesigned waiting area will allow for faster check in and fewer steps for patients to the exam room. An additional restroom will be added to the laboratory phlebotomy station and the redesign will allow for better patient flow of the area.

Also included in the construction plan is a renovated parking lot which will add an additional 36 parking spaces close to the clinic and emergency department entrances.

Minstry Medical Group says the project is expected to be completed in December.
