Four talented members of the Rhinelander Swim Club athletes qualified for the 2015 12-and-under Wisconsin State Championship swim meet held this past weekend in Waukesha.

The state meet is a USA swimming sanctioned meet and the Hodags swam under the umbrella of the Northern Lakes Aquatic club. NLAC is a competitive USA registered team that combines clubs from the Northern region to form one team.

"Our state qualifiers combined with the best athletes in the area to compete against the best athletes in the state," said RSC coach Lindsay Byrka. "We were very proud to have our swimmers contribute points to the team's score at the state level. They help represent Rhinelander's ability to produce top talent."

The top eight finishers in individual events at the meet were awarded medals. Those who finished ninth to 16th received ribbons. Although no one came home with medals, the club didn't return home empty-handed.

"The swimmers all did a great job," said coach Megan Cihla. "We had a lot of personal bests, but most importantly our athletes did everything technically right which made us proud. Overall, this was a fantastic meet with great results." Jack Antonuk, 10, achieved 11 qualifying times in events over the course of the season to earn his first trip to a state meet, however athletes are limited to six individual entries, excluding relays.
