Father, daughter team up for Amazon travelogue, photo and pottery art exhibit at Nicolet College March 12
Through amazing photography and stories captured firsthand, Bodensteiner will lead the audience through his 700-mile journey by river through this remote part of the world where there are no roads or electricity.
Along the way the retired Rhinelander physician stayed with primitive tribes that have lived off the rich and lush natural resources of the region for thousands of years. He'll talk about how the incredible biodiversity and indigenous culture truly make the Amazon like no other place on Earth.
Just prior to the travelogue, Bodensteiner and his daughter Ingrid will host the opening reception for their art gallery exhibit Reverberation: Art Connecting People, Places and Generations.
The exhibit features Joe's fine art photography from around the world, focusing on the outdoors, and Ingrid's exquisite pottery, an art form she mastered while training with top potters from Wisconsin, Iowa and Japan. The exhibit will also feature projects created by Ingrid's students at the Lac du Flambeau Middle School.
The exhibit will run through April 18. Gallery hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
Admission is free to both events.
The Nicolet College Theatre and Art Gallery are located in the Learning Resources Center on the Nicolet Campus, one mile south of Rhinelander just off of County Highway G.
