A Rhinelander man on probation on a 2014 misdemeanor conviction for having sex with a child is back in the Oneida County Jail. Adam E. Kulwicki Jr. is charged with two felonies stemming from an alleged incident with a 13-year-old child in April.
Kulwicki, 36, made his first appearance in Oneida County Circuit Court June 18 on charges of first-degree sexual assault (sexual contact with a child under age 13) and exposing his genitals to a child.
According to the police report attached to the criminal complaint, the 12-year-old alleged victim came to the Rhine-lander Police Department on April 30 and spoke to a detective. She alleged that Kulwicki came into her bedroom and touched her breasts "and that his privates were hanging out of his shorts," according to the report.
The report also said that when the girl told Kulwicki to leave her room, he told her that if she told anyone what had happened, he would kill her.
Branch I Judge Patrick O'Melia set bond at $20,000 cash during the initial appearance. If Kulwicki is released, he is prohibited from having any contact with any underage females. He remains in the Oneida County Jail on a probation hold.
On Feb. 8, 2014, Kulwicki was charged with having sex with a child age 16 or older, a class A misdemeanor. On July 18, 2014, he entered a guilty plea to the charge.
Branch II Judge Michael Bloom withheld sentence and placed Kulwicki on probation for 12 months, with the condition that he have no unsupervised contact with any females under 18 with the exception of his daughter.
First-degree sexual assault (sexual contact with a child under age 13) is a class B felony, punishable by imprisonment for up to 60 years. Exposing genitals to a child is a class I felony with a maximum penalty of up to a $10,000 fine and up to three years, six months imprisonment.
Kulwicki will make an adjourned initial appearance July 13 before O'Melia.
