Benefit to be held at Bucketheads for woman with cancer
By Kayla Thomason-
Deb Zarm was diagnosed with stage four small cell lung cancer in the spring of 2014.
She has been undergoing chemotherapy and radiation, while enjoying each day she has with her family.
"(Mom) will do anything for anyone and is constantly crocheting baby blankets or scarves or sewing table runners or tablecloths for people," said Jen Zarm, Deb Zarm's daughter. "She enjoys working in her flower garden, she loves her community and she loves her family."
There will be a meat raffle and cheeses, provided at a discount by Trig's and Bessey's Meat Market.
There will be a bucket raffle with prizes such as gift cards from Golden Harvest, Subway, Kids Korner Pizza, Papa Murphy's, Fantastic Sam's Hair Salon and Brett Favre's Steakhouse. Other prizes will include a $100 gift card to Massage Envy Spa in Green Bay or Appleton, a $50 Citgo gift card, a Green Bay Packers Pro Shop gift card, miscellaneous Green Bay Packers merchandise, a football autographed by Aaron Rodgers, four tickets to Packers Family Night, a one-night stay at Country Inn and Suites in Green Bay, a Seroogy's gift basket valued at $60, a homemade fleece blanket, a gift basket from Cupcake Couture in De Pere, and a hanging plant donated by Hanson's Garden Village. Participants can also drop tickets in for various bottles of wine, alcohol and soda donated by CocaCola.
Tickets for the raffles will range from $2 to $10 depending on the item.
"Our family is doing well and are just living each day as it comes, loving and supporting each other, especially mom," said Jen Zarm. "We are having this benefit not only to raise money but to also show mom that she has a lot of people who love and support her."
Bernie Thompson will be performing for the audience. He is a singer/songwriter who plays his own songs. He also covers the music of Johnny Cash, Pink Floyd, Eric Clapton and more.
Proceeds will go toward medical expenses.
"Cancer is such a scary, sad thing and hopefully this event will be a few hours of happiness and celebration of life," Jen Zarm said.
