Cards popped up amongst the crowd as people bid on various auction items.
"This is excellent," said Li Everson, administrative assistant for HCY. "We have a lot of new faces this year, it's great."
Mike Prom, executive director of HCY, was very pleased with the turnout.
"It was a very nice turnout with some newcomers and others who had not attended for a couple of years," he said. "So I was quite pleased. The past couple of years the turnout was lower, but this year the trend reversed."
Area businesses and individuals donated over $8,000 worth of goods or services for the auction.
"We greatly appreciate all the businesses (over 125) from throughout the Northwoods area and a few from outside our 25- to 30-mile radius who generously gave to help financially to offer quality programming and scholarships to area teenagers," Prom said.
"The area businesses really pitch in and we couldn't do it without them," Everson added. "They care about the teens and we care about the teens."
People bid on items such as oil changes, gift certificates to area businesses, a remote starter, passes to area attractions and more.
"I enjoy it," said Roger Freund. "I think it's a great cause for this program."
Freund said he has attended the benefit half a dozen times.
"I think it's good that they are raising money (for the children)," said Brenda Stafford, a second-time attendee. "I think it's a great organization and it helps the kids in the area."
Approximately $4,500 was raised, which will be used for programming and scholarships for teens around the Northwoods, for Bible camps and to bring in groups that promote good values for teens.
