Wednesday, May 27, was an exciting day for Title One teacher, Donna Hejtmanek of St. Germain Elementary, as she accompanied Lt. Governor Rebecca Kleefisch in the awarding of Read to Lead grants throughout the state of Wisconsin.
Ms. Hejtmanek was appointed in 2013 to be a part of the Read to Lead Council, a group of individuals appointed by Gov. Walker, to select grants that promote reading improvement.
Since 2013, over $300,000 has been awarded. The grant recipients were the Children's Dyslexia Center of Wisconsin of Eau Claire, Marquette University and St. Catherine School both of Milwaukee, Kettle Moraine Correctional Institution, Northern Waters Literacy of St. Croix and the Sparta School District.
