Nicolet Foundation's Run to Remember Aug. 29
Early registration deadline Aug. 10
"New this year will be a 10K event for the more serious runners who enjoy the longer distances," said Heather Schallock, executive director of the Nicolet College Foundation which coordinates the Run to Remember. "This will be in addition to the traditional 5K and the half-mile children's run we have every year."
The event Saturday, Aug. 29, will raise scholarship money in honor of Kory Dahlvig, a Nicolet graduate and former Vilas County sheriff's deputy who lost his life in the line of duty.
The entry fee is $25 before Aug. 10 and $30 after that date. Entry in the children's run is free with registration occurring the day of the event.
Check-in begins at 8 a.m. with the 10K starting at 9 a.m., the 5K at 9:15 a.m., and the children's run at 10:30 a.m. Awards will be presented at 11 a.m.
To register, call the foundation at (715) 365-4518 or visit active.com to register online.
This is the third year for the event, with the previous two raising $10,000 for student scholarships in addition to starting an endowment.
More information, along with the online and print registration form, is available at nicoletcollege.edu.
Sponsors of the event include Superior Diesel, Ministry Health Care, Blue Knights MC Club Eagle River Chapter XIII, Walmart, Hilgy's LP Gas, Eye Clinic of Wisconsin, Asprius, Parsons of Eagle River, Aylesworth Dermatology, Shoeder's RV, Marine, and Sport Center, David Holperin - Stifel, Northwestern Mutual, Coca-Cola, and CoVantage Credit Union.
