At the annual board meeting in May, Deane Galloway was re-elected as president of the Lakeland Performing Arts Association (LPAA). Jay Woolf was elected vice-president, Phil Strand was re-elected treasurer, and Sally Kunkel was re-elected secretary.

All of the officers bring experience and a passion for the arts to their responsibilities of leadership of the organization. That same passion is shared by the rest of the board members, the group said in a press release.

For the sixth year, the board is augmented by the addition of two students from Lakeland Union High School -Jamie Steiner and Seth Weldon - who serve in an advisory capacity to the board. In addition, Katelyn Robbins, a student at Nicolet College, will continue to serve the board in an advisory capacity.

The 2015-16 season marks the 34th year the Lakeland Performing Arts Association has sponsored first-class live entertainment for the greater Lakeland area. All performances are held in the auditorium at Lakeland Union High School, 9573 Hwy. 70 West, Minocqua, and begin at 7 p.m.

This year's LPAA series is once again filled with variety, energy, and talented artists.

This season's concert season series opens on Thursday, Sept. 17 with a Tribute to Neil Diamond featuring Denny Diamond and the Jewels. In addition to the Neil Diamond songs, they will perform other well-known songs from that era.

Other 2015-16 concerts include Gary Mauer, a broadway vocalist on Tuesday, Nov. 17; Southeast Alaskan Odyssey, a family string band performing American-roots music favorites on Thursday, January 28, 2016; The Five Aces, Britain's Finest Swing Band playing songs by famous artists such as Dean Martin and Louis Armstrong on Friday, April 1, 2016; and Fascinating Rhythms of the World with Alex Meixner, accordionist and his band on Tuesday, May 3, 2016.

The LPAA is sponsored, in part, by grants from the Wisconsin Arts Board, the Northern Arts Council, and St. Matthias Thrift Shop.
