Mischell Fryar, a teacher at Rhinelander High School, attended the National Institute of Financial and Economic Literacy (NIFEL) training July 13-17 at Edgewood College in Madison.

The week-long session, "Investor Education, Economics and Insurance," focused on equipping educators with tools they need to teach students about investing, investment fraud and insurance.

The NIFEL training was presented by the Wisconsin Jump$tart Coalition and Edgewood. Major funding was provided by CBM Credit Education Foundation Inc. Additional support was provided by Edgewood, the Wisconsin Department of Financial Institutions (DFI), the Wisconsin Bankers Association and the Wisconsin Credit Union League.

The NIFEL training, which was started in 2001 by the DFI's Office of Financial Literacy, has provided personal financial education training for more than 800 educators over the past 15 years.
