Local swimmers gear up for Summer State meet
Local swimmers gear up for Summer State meet
Although not all of the swimmers are members of the Rhinelander Swim Club, they have been training together in Rhinelander under coaches Lindsay Byrka and Megan Cihla.
The 12 and under age group will compete July 25 and 26, while the 13 and older group will swim Aug. 1 and 2.
Swimming in the 12 and under meet are:
Heather Arlen (12) - 50 backstroke, 100 backstroke, 100 breaststroke.
Malia Francis (11) - 50 butterfly, 100 butterfly, 50 backstroke, along with relays.
Charlie Heck (10) - 50 backstroke, 50 breaststroke, 50 freestyle.
Joseph Heck (12) - 50 backstroke, 100 backstroke, 50 freestyle, 50 breaststroke, 100 breaststroke.
Kristin Schaars (12) - 50 butterfly, 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle, 50 breaststroke, 100 breaststroke, 200 breaststroke, along with relays.
Makenna Winnicki (12) - 50 butterfly, 50 backstroke, 100 backstroke, along with relays.
Abi Winnicki (9) - 200 medley relay 200 freestyle relay.
Participating in the 13 and over meet are:
Kiah Francis (16) - 100 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, 200 breaststroke, 100 butterfly, 200 IM, 400 IM.
Nolan Francis (14) - 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle, 100 backstroke
Colin Koss (17) - 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle, 100 butterfly.
The Francis children are from Rhinelander and are members of the TIDE swim club in Wausau. Kristin Schaars is from Eagle River and swims with the Lakeland swim club in Minocqua. Heather Arlen and Colin Koss are from the Antigo Swim Club.
