Stihl Timberworks Lumberjack Show returns to Camp 5 in Laona
The Stihl Timberworks Lumberjack Show will be showing off the old skills and traditions at Camp 5 on Saturday, July 18. The modern-day Jacks will demonstrate axe throwing, chopping, log rolling, cross cut sawing, hot sawing and chainsaw carving. The competitors in the Timberworks Show will race to the top of poles, compete at birling, the skill of riding on a spinning log floating in a tank. This is a skill once used to drive logs down rivers to the sawmills downstate, and those who were good at riding the logs took pride in not getting wet.
The Timberworks Lumberjack Show has been featured on state and national television, and provides a thrilling look at the skills used by the old lumberjacks in building a nation, Camp 5 said in a press release.
