The Northwoods Babe Ruth 15-year-old All-Stars won the Wisconsin Babe Ruth tournament, which concluded Tuesday in Dodgeville.

Northwoods started the tournament with a 22-2 win over Dodgeville Saturday, defeated Stevens Point 11-1 Sunday and Green Bay 5-0 Monday to clinch a spot in the championship round. Northwoods faced Green Bay again Tuesday and won 10-5. It was the first state championship in 60 years for the Northwoods Babe Ruth League, according to league representative Brian Young.

The team is comprised of the top 15-year-olds in the league. Rhinelander representatives on the 12-player roster are Bradley Comer, Jacob DeMeyer, Alec Modrow, Brad Quade, Easton Senoraske and Tait Spencer. Four players from Eagle River and two players from Tomahawk round out the roster.

Northwoods advances to the Ohio Valley regional, which will take place July 22-26 in Eau Claire. Read more about the Babe Ruth team in an upcoming edition of the River News.
