Rhinelander swimmers compete in Badger State Games

The Rhinelander Swim Club had a few members in the pool during the Badger State Games which were held June 13 and 14 in Wausau.
The athletes swam as either a part of Northern Lakes Aquatic Club or unaffiliated for this meet. As a group, the swimmers made many trips to the podium during the two-day event.

8 and Under age group
Zachariah King, 8, brought home a second-place finish and a silver medal in the 100-yard individual medley, third-place finishes and bronze medals in 25 breaststroke and 25 butterfly, and a fourth-place ribbon in the 25 freestyle.
Sarah Marshall, 8, earned a third-place finish and a bronze medal in the 25 backstroke, along with ribbons in the 100 IM (fifth) and the 25 butterfly (sixth). Marshall swam in the open age category in the 100 freestyle, swimming against 13- to 16-year-olds, and placed 36th in that event.

9-10 age group
Jack Antonuk, 10, brought home a gold medal in the 100 butterfly and six silver medals for runner-up finishes in the 100 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, 100 IM, 50 butterfly, 50 breaststroke and 200 IM. Antonuk also broke two Rhinelander Swim Club records in the boys 9-10 category with a new record time of 1 minute, 18.61 seconds in the 100 butterfly and 1:30.98 in the 100 breaststroke.

11-12 age group
Noelle St. Pierre, 11, finished 21st in the 100 freestyle, 14th in the 100 breaststroke, 22nd in the 50 freestyle, 14th in the 100 IM, 15th in the 200 freestyle, 20th in the 50 breaststroke and 17th in the 200 IM.
David King, 12, brought home ribbons for his top-eight finishes in the 100 freestyle (seventh), 100 breaststroke (sixth), 100 backstroke (fourth) and 50 freestyle (sixth).

15 and over
Ethan Brown, 17, brought home six gold medals, winning the 200 medley relay, 100 backstroke, 100 butterfly, 200 freestyle relay, 200 backstroke and 200 butterfly. He added a second-place finish and a silver medal in the 100 freestyle and a bronze medal for his third-place finish in the 200 freestyle.
Alex Gaber, 17, brought home a pair of gold medals for his part in the 200 medley and relays and two bronze medals for his third-place finishes in the 200 IM and the 50 freestyle. Gaber also placed fourth in the 200 freestyle, ninth in the 100 freestyle and 10th in both the 100 back and the 100 butterfly.
Kirby Kuehn, 17, was also a factor in the relays, earning gold medals in the 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays. He took silver in the 50 freestyle and bronze in the 100 breaststroke. Kuehn had took sixth in the 100 butterfly and the 200 freestyle, and eighth in the 100 freestyle.
