If you have been to the Rhinelander Trig's grocery store since April 6, you may have seen some new faces.

Trig's enthusiastic new manager, Don Theisen, is from Antigo. He was born and raised there, and lives there, but is planning to build a new home for his family of four in Rhinelander.

"I love the area and the people," Theisen said of his new town.

Theisen is a grocery veteran, having worked for the Roundy's chain for 27 years.

"I'm not looking to change Trig's," Theisen said. "I'm looking to improve employee well-being and knowledge, and what they take home to their families."

Trig's currently employs over 200 people, with 43 new hires in the past two months and four in-house promotions.

"It's very exciting," Theisen said.

Part of the reason for the new hires is to prepare for the upcoming Fourth of July holiday and the Hodag Country Festival.

"We're getting everyone on board for that," Theisen said.

Soon there will be a new addition at Trigs - a Hodag picture board. People will be able to put their face through a hole behind the Hodag and get their pictures taken, Theisen said.

Trig's just helped out with the Boom Lake Log Jam, Theisen said, and they have a brat hut in front of the store for other fundraising events.

"I'm looking to continue to improve employee well-being and the Rhinelander workforce," Theisen said.

Of the transition, Theisen said it has been very smooth. "The staff have been very supportive," he said.

Theisen said Trig's has an impressive 90 percent job satisfaction rating.

"Things are going very well," he said.

Trig's has a rose sale coming up, as well as a coupon book for summer and gas coupons, he noted.

Steve Heise, who has managed the store for 31 years, has not left the company. He was promoted.

He will continue with Trig's as Director of Pricing and Analytics for all locations.
The first major challenge Heise is taking on is a software conversion project to increase security at stores for credit and debit card transactions at the register.

This is to comply with new regulations enacted due to security breaches at different retail companies, and to prevent it from happening at the local store.

"When training is complete at one location, I will move on to the next," Heise said.

Of the new manager, Heise said, 'We're happy to have him on board with us."
